National Cherry Blossom Festival

Welcome to the 2010 National Cherry Blossom Festival (NCBF) Volunteer Registration.

Venue Change for 2010:

  • Information Welcome Center & Target Stage will be at the Washington Monument/Sylvan Theatre (the Jefferson Memorial is under construction to preserve its historical place in the Nation's Capital)

 

Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10: Good Housekeeping will  sponsor a stage at Woodrow Wilson Plaza. Volunteer opportunities available.

 

New VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY at Union Station: NCBF Information and  Merchandise Headquarters Kiosk- Main Hall

Volunteers must be 18+ years of age to volunteer for the posted opportunities.

Registration is required to volunteer.

 

Volunteers  wishing to volunteer all day at Family Day,  Information & Target Stage at the Washington Monument or the Woodrow Wilson Stage: Please sign up for Shift 1 and Shift 2 repsectively.

Volunteers for this opportunity display an awareness and knowledge of the importance to have each parade unit enter the "televised area on que". 

Volunteer Duties: influential in assisting with the AM rehearsal of the largest ever Tap & Choir Group to perform in a parade,assiting parade units in spacing & timing  so each unit can maneuver effectively from the line-up area on 7th to the staging area on Constitution.

The telecast volunteer works directly with Parade Production personal. Volunteers are strongly encouraged to attend the Parade Production meeting on Thursday, April 8, 6pm. 1250 H St., NW, Washington, DC 20005

 

Report times will vary from 6- 7:30am. Times will be discussed at the meeting.

Early risers ~ come join the festival team that will be waking up the 2010 National Cherry Blossom Parade while DC sleeps.  This early rising enthusiastic team will be instrumental in assembling the parade units and participants for the 10:00am step off to  the 2 hour spectacular parade down Constitution Ave (7th - 17th)

Volunteer Duties: assist units for line-up, assist with volunteer check-in and placement, directional assistance, assist with props, liaison for Parade Staff members, crowd control and other duties as needed.

Report to the Volunteer Sign in booth on 7th St.NW between Jefferson and Maddison on the mall (west side of 7th). A white tent with the word Volunteer or Check-In  will be visible.

Volunteer Orientation is not mandatory. The Usher meeting is strongly encouraged.

Volunteers will be required to be flexible and willing to help in all areas as we strive to provide a spectacular parade for this Signature Springtime event in our Nations' Capital.

 

To volunteer as a feather flag carrier: requires volunteers willing to  comply with the dress code, are able to walk the parade route, stand for no less than 2 hours, be strong and at least 5'4" to  carrry a poled feather flag "without support" down the parade route, are eligible for this position.

 

Travel light as there is no storage available for personal belongings.

To expedite volunteer check-in: you are encouraged to arrive early to get your t-shirt and report to your assignment in a timely manner.

The only request being accepted in 2010 will be a request to be assigned with a partner, friend or companion.
